The rise of the Jacksonville vape shop is many things. Earlier this year, we posted a blog about the e-cig community and how vaping has brought thousands of people together with a common cause. That community has become even closer in the face of potential action against it by the FDA. People have credited e-cigs with changing their lives (myself included) and now they band together in solidarity. Jacksonville Vape shops have become more than just brick and mortar purveyors of vaping gear. A lot like the long running TV show, Cheers, regular customers stop by their favorite vape shop after work to pick up some of their favorite e-liquid, check out new gear, or just kick back and have a puff with the crew running the shop. Some vape shops have "Vape Meets" where fellow vapers gather to enjoy each other's company, win prizes, or even participate in "Cloud Contests" to see who can chuck the biggest, thickest plume. Jacksonville vape shops still exist to make money, but now it's more than that - it's a meeting place for all things e-cig and the people that love them. So we know that vapor stores have evolved into vape shops, but how has the technology changed?
Electronic cigarettes have come a loooooong way since the humble days of the disposable 510. In the beginning choices were few and, in retrospect, unimpressive. Color options were limited to a futuristic matte black or tobacco cigarette white with (genuine simulated filter) tan. You could have a sort of tobacco flavored liquid and maybe some vaguely fruity tasting option. You chose between a button activated or automatic battery. Maybe you had the option of what color LED illuminated the end of your "artificial cigarette". That was about it.
How far we've come.

The tank (sometimes called a clearomizer) is the most important part of your vape setup. It’s where the “magic happens”. It houses your e-liquid and the heating element that enables you to vaporize the liquid. It seems like everyday there are more and more tanks coming onto the market and if you’re an e-cig user it can be extremely overwhelming when trying to decide what to purchase. You need to not only make sure you are buying the best tank out there, but you have to make sure it will work well with your device. In our experience, the most important aspects of a tank are that it doesn’t give dry hits, doesn’t leak, has good airflow and hits well. Here are three of the most common vaping setups and our favorite tanks for them.
“Ego Style” Battery
An Ego Battery is the most common and preferred electronic cigarette on the market. They are easy to use, and provide enough power and battery life for the average user. Tanks for these style batteries are most often referred to as clearomizers. There are hundreds of them available for an ego battery, many of which are faulty and overpriced. After testing almost every one, there is one clearomizer that never fails to get the job done.
The smok ebc is a very simple, no frills clearomizer. They use a very standard replaceable coil, they don’t leak and they hit well. It’s difficult to find a clearomizer that is this easy to use. The best thing about it is that they are cheap and work better than some of their more expensive counterparts.
Mid Range Devices
If you upgrade from an ego style device you will likely be looking into getting an e-cig with variable voltage or wattage capabilities. There are ego style batteries that have a dial on the bottom which allow you to turn up the voltage. Or you can get a small box mod for the extra battery life. If you are looking for an upgrade but don’t want to spend a lot of money there are many options. There is one tank that has stood the test of time and remains the favorite amongst thousands of vapors.
